Installing AutoVue Web Version

Installing AutoVue Web Version requires that several steps be performed on the client and server computers, depending on the method of deployment chosen in About AutoVue Web Version. These steps comprise installing the AutoVue Web Version software and installing the components that integrate AutoVue Web Version with Meridian Enterprise. The AutoVue Web Version software and documentation are available on the Meridian Enterprise setup disc and the BlueCielo FTP site.

The AutoVue Web Version software includes a copy of the open source Java application server software Jetty. This is convenient if you will be deploying AutoVue Web Version in the client/server configuration and do not have an existing Java application server on which to host AutoVue. It is also useful if you want a lightweight Java application server for desktop deployment. For convenience, the Meridian Enterprise installation packages install Jetty support by default.

To install AutoVue Web Version:

  1. Ensure that the server and client computers meet the hardware and system requirements described in the Oracle AutoVue Client/Server Deployment Installation and Configuration Guide.
  2. On the computer that will run the AutoVue server software, install the AutoVue server software from the Meridian Enterprise setup disc. Use the instructions for non-integrated installation in the Oracle AutoVue Client/Server Deployment Installation and Configuration Guide. The default installation options are adequate for integration with Meridian Enterprise.
  3. On the same computer, run the Meridian Enterprise setup program and install the Server-Based Viewing components .
  4. In BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator on the Meridian application server, select Web Access in the left pane. The existing web locations appear in the right pane.
  5. On the Action menu, select Properties. The Web Access Properties dialog appears.
  6. Enter options using the descriptions in the following table.
Server-Based Viewing options
Option Description

AutoVue Server URL

URL of the AutoVue server where you installed the AutoVue Server software in step 2, for example, http://<ServerName>:<Port>/Oracle/AutoVue. The number for <Port> should be the same as was specified during installation of the AutoVue Server software. The default is 5098.

BlueCielo Connector URL

URL of the Meridian Enterprise Server-Based Viewing components that you installed in step 3, for example, http://<ServerName>:<Port>/Oracle/AutoVue/Servlet. The default number for <Port> is 8900.

Tip    The port number can be found in the file jetty_DMS.xml on the AutoVue server. The default location is C:\Oracle\AutoVue\Servlet\bin\jetty\etc. Look for the following line in the file:

<SystemProperty name="jetty.port" default="8900"/>
  1. On the Meridian web server, open the following address in a browser:

http://<ServerName>/BCWebService/BCWebService.BluePrintService.svc

A page titled BluePrintService Service appears if installation is correct to this point.

  1. On the AutoVue server, open the file StartServers.bat in any text editor. By default, it is located in C:\Oracle\AutoVue\Servlet\bin.

Note    If the AutoVue installation from step 2 could not be found in the default location by the Meridian Enterprise setup program, the Servlet folder is installed in the Meridian Enterprise Program folder. Move the Servlet folder to the AutoVue folder on the AutoVue server.

  2. Verify that the paths in StartServers.bat are correct for your installation.
  3. Start the Java application server, the AutoVue servlet, and the Meridian Enterprise connector by executing StartServers.bat. The AutoVue Server console window appears.

Tip    To start the servers automatically when Windows boots and to not require a user account to be logged on, create a shortcut to StartServers.bat in the computer's Startup group of the Windows Start menu. Enable the Run as administrator option in the Advanced Properties dialog of the shortcut.

  1. Users must enable the AutoVue Web Version viewer before it will become their default viewer.
  1. Test AutoVue Web Version by opening a vault document in Meridian Enterprise Web Access. For each session of the viewer, users are required to log on by the Java application server. The AutoVue applet downloads from the server and opens the selected document.

For more information about configuring and administering AutoVue Web Version, see the Oracle AutoVue Client/Server Deployment Installation and Configuration Guide or Oracle AutoVue Desktop Deployment Installation and Configuration Guide, accordingly.
